Our Community Ethos
Our artivist (artist + activist) community is united by the following values:
Diversity: We’re committed to reflect the beautiful diversity of all artists and all bodies, inclusive of all genders, races, abilities, body sizes, ages, sexual orientations and all other identities and experiences.
Bodily Autonomy: We are fierce believers that everyone has the right to govern their own bodies and decide how they show up in the world. We take back the bodily autonomy that governments, patriarchal and capitalist systems take away from us.
Sexual Empowerment: Our mission is grounded in sexual liberation, uplifting all humans to own and express their sexuality in a way that’s true to their needs and desires. We aim to break harmful and shameful sexual taboos in favor of celebrating individual sexual expression.
Reflections of Power and Privilege: We all exist at multiple intersections of power and privilege. We commit to critically examine our power, disrupt our own internalized systems of oppression and use our privilege to uplift. Practically speaking, this looks like disrupting the male gaze by creating a diverse community of artists working in front of and behind the camera, equal revenue distribution and supporting other organizations committed to gender equity and environmentalism.
The Partnership Way: We are guided by Riane Eisler’s The Partnership Way. We, too, are seeking a gender-equitable world that overcomes the societal domination, manipulation and violence that harms gender-oppressed people and the Earth
Environmentalism: We are fierce climate activists who see ourselves as part of the ecology of Mother Earth, not separate from it. We know the science and see the immediate and critical threats facing our planet. Based on our theory of change, our art is our contribution to planetary protection.
No SWERFs/ TERFs, No Hate: We are a trans and sex worker-positive and inclusive community. Hate and discrimination have no place in our community.
